Samarkand Conference has ended
On March 4, 2020, International Conference on “Imam Abu Mansur Maturidi and teachings of Maturidia: past and present” has ended in Samarkand.
The conference was attended by religious figures, Islamic scholars, heads of prestigious education institutions and research centers from almost 20 countries.
It was organized by the Committee on Religious Affairs under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Board of Muslims of Uzbekistan, International Islamic Academy, Center for Islamic Civilization and Imam Bukhari International Research Center, as well as Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Al-Azhar Complex (Egypt).
Head of Al-Azhar Complex, Grand Imam of Egypt, Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb has arrived in Uzbekistan to attend this event.
As it was noted, more than 40 reports on personality and ideological views of Imam Abu Mansur Maturidi, ideological basis of Maturidia teachings and new sources related to Kalam School were heard at the event.
Recommendations have been developed for creating a library, bibliography of scientist’s works, publishing more books, creating a special website where information about scientific heritage of Imam Maturidi and teachings of Maturidia will be posted.
It has been proposed to hold a competition between students and researchers of Al-Azhar University on works and teachings of Imam Maturidi, and to award its winners with a scientific-creative trip to Uzbekistan.
Participants of the international conference expressed special gratitude to generous and hospitable Uzbek people, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who, thanks to large-scale reforms in the name of people’s interests, is gaining respect and recognition of the world community.
The event was attended by Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan R. Kasimov, Head of Al-Azhar Complex, Grand Imam of Egypt Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb.
