Leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda

In Bishkek, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated Pakistan on its upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation.
It was particularly noted that the historic visit to Islamabad in February this year and the high-level meetings held during the visit elevated relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.
The two sides exchanged views on further expanding trade and economic, investment, transport, and logistics cooperation.
Special attention was also given to developing interregional cooperation and humanitarian ties. In particular, preparations are underway to hold a Forum of Regions in Khiva later this year, while Days of Uzbek Culture and Cinema are planned in Pakistan.
