Meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services
On November 7, Tashkent hosted the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services.
The event was attended by heads of the security agencies and special services of the CIS countries, the Executive Committee and the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Commonwealth.
It was noted that the government of Uzbekistan, in particular, through the personal efforts of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in recent years in the CIS, especially in Central Asia, integration process have been strengthened, relations in socio-economic sphere have been improved, effective security initiatives have been forwarded. Confidence was expressed that in 2020, activities in this direction will be brought to a qualitatively new level.
At the meeting of the CIS Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services, issues of further strengthening cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, drug trafficking, transnational organized crime were discussed. Joint measures have been identified to prevent interethnic and inter-confessional conflicts in the CIS, to ensure security in transport communications and economics. Situation in Afghanistan was discussed from the point of view of ensuring regional security in Central Asia.
At the meeting, the Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center presented a report on the results of joint anti-terrorism training sessions. The center’s work plan for 2020 was considered. The parties noted the need for further expanding comprehensive relations within the framework of the council. New promising areas of cooperation were outlined.
